Columbus man arrested on drug trafficking charge

YOUNGSTOWN — A Columbus man pursued on the South Side by police for not signaling a turn tossed out boxes of suspected marijuana, jumped out of his moving car, was struck by a cruiser, got up and ran, leaped over a chainlink fence and then gave up, police said.

Police arrested Dwuane R. Riggins, 28, on Tuesday evening and charged him with driving under suspension, trafficking in marijuana (about three kilos, 6.6 pounds), resisting arrest and failure to comply with a police order. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment of a head injury. When released he will be arraigned in municipal court. Police confiscated $2,756 found in his pockets.
