YOUNGSTOWN -- The second suspect in a Dec. 30, 2006, homicide and assault has been video-arraigned in municipal court. Bond was set at 1.5 million Tuesday for Reshaud Biggs, 21, of East Florida Avenue, by Magistrate Anthony Sertick Jr. Biggs and his stepbrother, Darin Davis, 17, same address, are accused in the shooting death of Anthony Perez, 31, of Youngstown, and wounding of his brother when both were detailing a car on the South Side. Detectives said there had been an argument over an accusation of theft of a car.
Reservists going to Iraq
VIENNA -- Nine members of the 910th Security Forces Squadron at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station are preparing to be deployed to Iraq for a six-month tour of duty. The specialists will serve in several security-related duties in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The reservists are scheduled to leave by Thursday. They were called to active duty Jan. 9. They recently returned from two weeks of training at a base near Bastrop, Texas.
Needy to get ice cream
YOUNGSTOWN -- Because of the supportive action of Cerni Motor Sales Co. in trucking in another load of ice cream, the Youngstown Community Food Center and Gleaners Food Bank, 94 Pyatt St., will give away ice cream from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the food bank for the area's less-fortunate families. Photo identification and proof of income are required, food bank officials said.
Traffic enforcement
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol will have troopers doing traffic enforcement on U.S. and state routes in the city until the end of this month, said Lt. Chris Heverly, Canfield post commander. Heverly said Mayor Jay Williams inquired about having troopers assist city police, and the approval was given last week. Between Thursday and Sunday, troopers conducted 573 stops, made 32 driving under suspension arrests, one driving under the influence arrest and two felony drug arrests. They issued 173 citations for not using seat belts and five for not using child restraints. Troopers also issued 247 warnings, Heverly said.
City police working Special Interdiction Patrol, from Feb. 2 through Sunday, made 1,433 stops, said Police Chief Jimmy Hughes. Officers made 45 felony and 215 misdemeanor arrests, seized 13 firearms and recovered 8,786. Officers also towed 98 vehicles and issued 67 parking tickets and 474 traffic citations.
School-funding forum
BOARDMAN -- There will be a forum on Ohio's education funding at 7 p.m. Monday in the large auditorium at Center Middle School, Market Street.

Missing woman sought
FARRELL, Pa. -- Police are asking anyone with a information about the disappearance of a Farrell woman to call them. Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Detective Chris Hosa said callers can remain anonymous and should call 911 or the police office at (724) 983-2720. They are investigating the disappearance of Shelly Misinay, 41, of Park Avenue. She was last seen at 4:30 a.m. Feb. 14 in her home, Hosa said. Hosa said they believe Misinay left on foot with her cellular telephone, but records show no calls were placed or received since before that day. Misinay is described as a white woman, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. She wears black-rimmed eyeglasses, Hosa said.
Speedway robbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Speedway, 1 N. Meridian Road, was robbed at gunpoint around 10:50 p.m. Monday. The robber escaped with cash from the register, empty deposit bags and the assistant manager's purse.
