Elyria girl survives snow tunnel collapse

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) — A man pulled his 10-year-old daughter from a pile of snow outside their northeast Ohio home and revived the girl, who got trapped when the tunnel she dug collapsed.

Robert VanHoose said a boy from the neighborhood ran to the house Monday to tell him the girl had gotten stuck. VanHoose ran to the curb in front of the house and saw his daughter Lanetta’s feet and a shovel.

“I started digging, but she was packed in there pretty good,” he said. “All I could think to do was grab her legs and pull.” It took a few minutes to free the girl.
