COLUMBIANA (AP) — A Columbiana man has died of injuries he sustained in a snowmobile crash in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Wetmore, Mich., police said.

Stephen Hrivnak, 39, was riding Saturday morning along a road in Alger County when his sled crested a hill, went airborne and struck a large metal electric meter box.

Hrivnak was taken to Munising Memorial Hospital and transferred to the trauma unit at Marquette General Hospital, where he died after surgery for internal injuries, police said.

Hrivnak was not familiar with local trails and was traveling in an area not normally used by snowmobilers, police said.
