NHL ROUNDUP \ Friday's other games

Blues 1, Predators 0
ST. LOUIS -- Bill Guerin scored late in the second period, Manny Legace stopped 19 shots and the St. Louis Blues ended a 14-game losing streak against the Predators. It was Nashville's first game since acquiring center Peter Forsberg from Philadelphia in a trade Thursday night. The former MVP did not play against the Blues and plans to make his debut with the Predators on Saturday at home against the Minnesota Wild. Guerin notched his team-leading 27th goal with 53 seconds left in the second period and both teams skating with four players. He collected a pass from Doug Weight as they entered the Nashville zone and worked around a defender before flicking the puck past goalie Chris Mason and just inside the top corner. Legace's strong play and some bad luck for Nashville helped give St. Louis its first victory over the Predators since the end of the 2003-04 season. The Blues lost all eight meetings last year and the first six this season, all but the final loss coming by one goal. It was Legace's fifth shutout this season and 18th overall. Nashville got the puck past Legace three times only to get have their shots hit metal. Vitaly Vishnevski's shot from between the center of the two circles bounced off the post to the left of Legace in the second period. Nashville had just missed scoring the game's first goal midway through the second. Paul Kariya narrowly missed his 18th goal of the season after his backhand glanced off Legace and the crossbar before getting cleared. David Legwand hit the post on a tough-angle shot about 4 minutes later.
Canucks 2, Blackhawks 1, SO
CHICAGO -- Trevor Linden and Brendan Morrison scored in the shootout, and Roberto Luongo made 34 saves to lead Vancouver to its third straight win. Vancouver's Matt Cooke scored midway through the third to tie it 1-all and set up overtime. The win moved the Canucks into first place in the Northwest Division. Chicago's Patrick Sharp opened the scoring early in the third. Blackhawks goalie Patrick Lalime stopped 28 shots. Lalime, who missed the first half of the season following surgery to repair a herniated disc, made just his second start and appearance. He shut out the Canucks 3-0 in his first start, at Vancouver on Feb. 7. Chicago outshot Vancouver 11-10 in the first.
