Exhibit displays Civil War-era political cartoons

WARREN -- Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., is hosting a traveling panel exhibit created and funded by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History called "Looking at Lincoln: Political Cartoons from the Civil War Era," through Feb. 28.
The panel exhibit explores the Civil War and issues of slavery through political cartoons that appeared in newspapers and were sold individually as prints in shops, on street corners and by mail.
In an era before radio, television and the Internet, a great deal of political and social commentary was expressed through these cartoons.
The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
