Campbell keeps pace in MAC race



East Palestine closed out ITCL play with an easy win over Mineral Ridge.
NILES -- Travis Martin and Jermaine Richardson each scored 15 points and Campbell survived a scare from Niles, holding off the Red Dragons for a 54-49 victor in a boys Metro Athletic Conference game on Saturday.
Tommy Hall added 11 points for the Red Devils (13-3, 10-2), who trail Canfield by one game in the league standings. The two teams play on Thursday.
Dan Rosenberger scored 17 points and Justin Allen added 16 for Niles, which lost to the Red Devils 57-26 in the teams' first meeting.
Uniontown Lake 64, Boardman 47
CANTON -- Devron Martin had 13 points, J.T. Moore scored 12 points and Ryan Pesta added 11 for Boardman, which finished sixth in the Federal League tournament at the Civic Center.
Eric Coblentz scored 28 points for Lake, which took fifth.
Massillon Jackson 72, Fitch 66
CANTON -- Mark Henniger, Jim Houston, Jordan Lindesmith and Ryan Pfeiffer scored 15, 13, 12 and 10 points respectively for the Polar Bears, who finished seventh in the Federal League.
Jon Stockman scored 25 points to pace the Falcons (2-16) who trailed by 10 points (21-11) after the first quarter.
Mooney 67,Youngstown Christian 47
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mike Gemma had 13 points and nine rebounds, while Jose Morales added 12 points for Mooney.
Dan McCarthy added 11 points and L.J. Sutton had 10 for the Cardinals (6-11), who outscored YCS 33-18 in the second half.
David Colbert led the Eagles (6-12) with 17 points.
East Palestine 68,Mineral Ridge 29
EAST PALESTINE -- Dan Hanolt scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds as East Palestine closed league play with a victory.
Tom Powers scored 13 points and Travis Foreman 10 for the Bulldogs (16-2, 13-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier One).
Nick DiCello had eight points, six rebounds and five assists for the league champions.
For the Rams, Dan Hawout scored 12 points.
Lowellville 55, Leetonia 52
LOWELLVILLE -- With the game tied at 52 with six seconds left, Lowellville's Jimmy Sudon made a layup, was fouled and made the free throw to secure the winning margin.
Mario Nero led the Rockets (6-11, 4-10 ITCL Tier Two) with 22 points (including 10 for 10 from the line), six assists and six steals, while Sudon had nine points.
John Williams had 16 points for Leetonia.
Crestview 67, Beaver Local 56
COLUMBIANA -- Travis Gustafson had 20 points, Tony Amabile had 17 and Jakob Leon added 12 for Crestview (8-12), which took a 22-12 first quarter lead.
Zack Zelinski scored 15 points for Beaver Local.
Champion 70, Girard 60
CHAMPION -- After a close first quarter, the Golden Flashes (8-10, 4-8) started pulling away and led 36-30 at intermission.
Katrell Jones paced the Golden Flashes with 20 points. Joe Cvengros added 12 and Tyler Kish finished with 10. Brett Cubellis took scoring honors for the Indians with 32 points.
