Brookfield finishes third in sectional

ROOTSTOWN -- Tristan Thompson of Brookfield High decisioned Corey McMurray of Burton Berkshire 10-3 for the 125-pound championship in the Division III sectional wrestling tournament Saturday at Rootstown High School.
The top four athletes in each weight class advanced to the district meet at Maple Heights High.
Berkshire won the team title with 219 points. Woodridge was second with 202.5, Brookfield third with 188.5, Jackson-Milton fourth with 145.5 and South Range fifth with 144.
Also winning titles for the Warriors were Dan Miller (130), who won by technical fall over Nick Sheetz of South Range, 16-1; Brad Harnett (135) decisioned Joel Jenkins of Berkshire 4-3; and Ross Tice (160) pinned Jason Porter of Berkshire in 15 seconds.
Travis Harbert of Garfield decisioned Santino Pizzuto of Jackson-Milton 7-1 for the 112 crown. Blake Thoreson of Berkshire won a major decision over Matt Mascioll of Jackson-Milton, 12-0, at 119.
Other winners
Dave Malkus of Berkshire decisioned Brennan Witmer of South Range 12-7 for the 140 title.
Joe Skaggs, 145, of Jackson-Milton won by technical fall over Pat Rado of Woodridge 19-3. Graham Richardson of Berkshire pinned Andy Fay of Woodridge 2:53 in the 152 championship match.
Phil Martter of Woodridge pinned Tommy Shives of South Range 4:50 for the 171 title. Travis Porter of Berkshire won a major decision over Vince Prasko of Louisville St. Thomas 14-2 in the 189 title match.
John Rhodes of Gafield won by default over Ryan Clawson of Jackson-Milton at 215 and Mark Pleiss of Warren JFK decisioned Jeff Yaratch of Jackson-Milton for the heavyweight championship.
