The Olympic Games end at Lake Placid, N.Y., with gate receipts totaling 96,000, only 4,000 less than anticipated, despite bad whether that forced rescheduling some events. The total cost of putting on the games was 1.4 million, most of which was covered by state and local government grants. The games will show a deficit of about 50,000.
