Mahoning Co. sales tax meetings

YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County commissioners will have the first of two public meetings to put a sales tax renewal on the May primary ballot at 1 p.m. Sunday in the commissioners' meeting room in the county courthouse basement, 120 Market St.

The second meeting will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 21 in the commissioners' meeting room. The sales tax, approved in 2002, expires this year. The tax brings in about $14 million to the county's general fund.

The deadline to put tax issues and to run for partisan political office for the May 8 primary is Feb. 22.
