No verdict in trial over Ohio woman's death

NEW YORK (AP) -- The jury at the murder trial of a man accused of killing a stripper from Ohio stopped deliberations Wednesday without reaching a verdict and was to resume Thursday.
Paul Cortez, 26, is accused of slashing the throat of Catherine Woods, his former girlfriend.
Cortez, a personal trainer and aspiring rock musician, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Woods on Nov. 27, 2005, at her Manhattan apartment.
Woods, 21, of Columbus, was the daughter of Jon Woods, director of the Ohio State University marching band.
A classically trained dancer, she had moved to New York City hoping to make it on Broadway and worked in topless bars to pay her expenses.
Jurors began deciding Cortez's fate Tuesday after a two-week trial in Manhattan's state Supreme Court.
Prosecutors say a bloody fingerprint found at the crime scene matched that of Cortez, but he claims he didn't kill Woods.
