Outstanding Unit Award
VIENNA -- The 910th Airlift Wing's Maintenance Group and 757th Airlift Squadron are two of 26 Air Force Reserve Command organizations that received the Outstanding Unit Award for 2006. The award recognizes outstanding achievement during missions of national or international significance, including combat missions and operations involving conflict with or exposure to hostile actions.
The Maintenance Group supported missions such as Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force Rita and Katrina, with some 5,500 sorties and 12,000 hours of flight time. The group's efforts enabled the 910th to airlift 250,000 personnnel and 32,600 tons of cargo in combat support of Operation Joint Forge; and to support humanitarian relief efforts in the Darfur region of the Sudan and in Besian, Russia.
The 757th conducted the largest aerial spray mission ever done on United States soil in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. Aircraft from the 757th covered some 2.8 million acres with insecticides for nuisance insect control and to prevent the spread of insect-borne diseases.
On duty in Vienna
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Nadia D. Costick has arrived for duty at Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. An air transportation apprentice assigned to the 76th Aerial Port Squadron, she is the daughter of Joseph and Noeleen Costick of Austintown, and is a 2006 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.

Airman of the Quarter
Air Force Senior Airman Kenneth P. Umeck was named Airman of the Quarter for the 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 388th Maintenance Group at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Umeck, an F-16 fighter aircraft avionics specialist, is the son of Kenneth L. Umeck of Niles. He is a 1995 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

Back from Iraq
Army Reserve Pfc. Travis R. Fiest has returned to the United States after being deployed to an overseas forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Fiest, a human resources specialist, is assigned to the 864th Replacement Company, Oakdale, Pa. He is the son of Thomas and Tammie Fiest of Vienna, and is a 2004 graduate of Mathews High School, Vienna.

Air National Guard 2nd Lt. Shaun R. McRoberts was commissioned upon graduation from the six-week Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Knoxville, Tenn. McRoberts, a pilot with six years of military service, is assigned to the 171st Air Refueling Wing, Coraopolis, Pa.
He is the son of Kevin R. and Connie J. McRoberts of Enon Valley, Pa. McRoberts graduated in 1999 from Blackhawk High School, Beaver Falls, Pa., and received a bachelor's degree in 2006 from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.

Air Force Airman Justin R. Anderson graduated from the F-15 aircraft Avionics Test Station and Aircraft Components Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He is the son of Valerie R. Turner of Columbus, and grandson of Ruth Ann Anderson of Warren, and graduated in 2002 from North High School, Columbus.

Army Spec. Rou D. Mock has graduated from the Power-Generation Equipment Repairer Advanced Individual Training course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. He is the son of Sandra K. Mock of Youngstown, and is a 1987 graduate of Rayen High School.
