Columbiana commissioners to meet with MRDD superintendent

LISBON — Columbiana County commissioners said this morning that they will meet Wednesday with William Devon, superintendent of the county board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, to discuss the board’s proposed tax levy, which will appear on the primary ballot in March.

The commissioners said they were unaware that the MRDD board had more than $6 million in its coffers when it asked for a new levy, which the commissioners approved putting on the ballot.

The MRDD board spends about $12 million a year to provide services to handicapped people.
