Winners receive awards at Garden Club flower show

YOUNGSTOWN — Dianna Mullins of Nature Lovers Garden Club captured the coveted Best of Show award for her entry in the flower show held by the Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area on Nov. 15 at the Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens at Mill Creek MetroParks.

Also receiving recognition was Dorothy Haddox of Our Lady of Fatima Garden Club, who received a special award for her entry in the horticulture category.

Recipients of blue ribbons in design were garden club members Lisa Chronister of East Liverpool/Calcutta; Pearl Marlos of Gleaners; and Mullins, of Nature Lovers.

In the horticulture division blue ribbons went to Mary Schall and Wanda Hughes of Austintown; Rose Marie Roth of Daphne; Pat Parsons of East Liverpool/Calcutta; Marlos of Gleaners; Kathleen Willingham of Ikebana; Beverly Italiano, Esther Bertch and Martha Murphy, all of Nature Lovers; and Haddox of Our Lady of Fatima.

Blue ribbons for crafts were awarded Bobbi Kalmer and Mary Schall, both of Austintown.

Judges for the event were Evelyn Resek, Elsie DeHoff, Judy Smith, Shiela Bowman, Rose Marie Roth and Beverly Italiano.
