Rawls’ widow reports theft of jewelry, cash


GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Singer Lou Rawls’ widow reported the theft of a $175,000 11-carat diamond ring and other items from her home in suburban Akron.

Nina Rawls believes someone took the items between Dec. 12 and Monday, according to a report filed with the Summit County Sheriff’s office. An additional $25,000 in cash, savings bonds and jewelry were reported stolen.

Lou Rawls, who recorded classics like “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine,” died of cancer in January at age 72.
