East stops Vision Quest 61-57 as Carter hits 24

YOUNGSTOWN — Kenny Carter scored 24 points with four rebounds and two assists to lead the East High boys basketball team to a 61-57 victory over visiting Vision Quest on Thursday.
Anthony Bowers added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers (5-5), while Jamayle Roland had 10 points and Jurrell Burt 10 points and eight rebounds.
Matthew Watson had 19 points and eight rebounds for Vision Quest (3-4). Kendall Brinkley had 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Derrick Peoples had 12 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and four blocks.

LORDSTOWN — Scott Chaffee hit for 25 points and Jake DiEugenio 22, including three 3-point goals, as Lordstown rallied for 27 points in the final quarter to pull out the win, in a first-round game of the Lordstown Holiday Tournament on Thursday.
Justin Storm had 15 points, including three 3-point goals, and Treg Lunger also had 15 points to lead Heartland Christian, while Aaron Shields contributed 13 points and Nate Hall 10.
Lordstown advanced to play Southington Saturday at 7:15 p.m. in the championship game. Southington beat Brookfield, 70-45, in the other opener Thursday.
