YOUNGSTOWN — St. Elizabeth Health Center has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals for cardiovascular care by Thomson Healthcare. The Thomson 100 Top Hospitals Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success award recognizes St. Elizabeth’s cardiovascular clinical and management teams as one of the top in the nation. The annual award is based on performance treating congestive heart failure, heart attacks and cardiac surgical patients.

YOUNGSTOWN — Peter Woodlock, professor of accounting and finance at Youngstown State University, was appointed to the American Institute of CPAs Governing Council. The council sets policy for the 360,000 members of the American Institute of CPAs. Woodlock also passed the Certified Valuation Analyst exam administered by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Dr. Christopher Barry, a Lowellville native, is the first doctor in Oklahoma that will be offering a new surgery for degenerative disc disease that recently was approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration. The Prestige cervical disc is the first artificial disc replacement approved for use in the U.S. Dr. Berry is a neurosurgeon and medical director of the St. Anthony Neuroscience Institute in Oklahoma City. He is an Ursuline High School graduate and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University.
