Youngstowner seeks a spot on ‘Clash of the Choirs’ tonight

Tune in to “Clash of the Choirs” tonight to see if Le Shawn Tucker of Youngstown earns a spot on one of the choirs.

In “Clash of the Choirs,” five celebrities — Nick Lachey, Patti LaBelle, Blake Shelton, Michael Bolton and Kelly Rowland — return to their hometowns to assemble a choir for the competition show. The winner will be selected by viewer voting.

In tonight’s opening episode of the four-part holiday mini-series, Tucker tries out for the choir being assembled in Cincinnati by Lachey.

“Clash of the Choirs” will air at 8 p.m. on WFMJ-TV 21. It will continue in that time slot Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the winning choir being revealed Thursday.

Tucker is a 2002 graduate of Chaney High School and a senior at Wright State University in Dayton.

In an interview with The Vindicator, he described Lachey as “cool and down to earth. We laugh and joke and have a lot of fun.”

Lachey got his career started as a member of the ’90s boy band 98 Degrees and also starred on the MTV series “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica” with his then-wife Jessica Simpson.
