Income rankings

The U.S. Census Bureau released a report that lists Youngstown at the bottom of a list of midsize cities — populations between 65,000 and 249,999 — in terms of the lowest median household income. The bureau has such a large margin of error that it can’t definitely state Youngstown is No. 1, but the city is at best No. 7 on the list. Below is the estimated median incomes of the bottom 10 cities and the margin of error.

1. Youngstown, $21,850; $2,058.

2. Muncie, Ind., $25,859; $3,611.

3. Camden, N.J., $25,961; $5,348.

4. Brownsville, Texas, $26,017; $2,485.

5. Syracuse, N.Y., $26,464; $2,493.

6. College Station, Texas, $26,713; $4,634.

7. Lawrence, Mass., $26,780; $4,868.

8. Canton, Ohio, $26,912; $2,699.

9. Tuscaloosa, Ala., $27,358; $3,389.

10. Rochester, N.Y., $27,407; $2,008.
