Friday, August 24, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN — Clear Channel Radio again will be the radio home for the Youngstown State University football team.

Coverage will include the weekly “Penguin Playbook Coaches Show” airing on Monday and extensive gameday radio coverage.

For the first time since the early 1980s, all shows will air on NewsRadio 570 (WKBN-AM).

Gameday coverage starts with a live pregame tailgate show an hour before kickoff and the Alltel Pregame Show 30 minutes before the opening kick.

Bob Hannon, WYTV Sports Director, and Dick Hartzell return for their sixth season as the radio voices of the Penguins. Joining the duo is WKBN/WYFX news anchor Dave Sess who will handle sideline duties.

New postgame show

Following games, Hannon and Hartzell will host the “Giant Eagle Postgame Show,” which is followed by the “Fifth Quarter” call-in show.

“Pregame Tailgate Show” and “Fifth Quarter” will be hosted by Chad Krispinsky.

A new feature is the “Fifth Quarter” following road games. Krispinsky and Denny Leibert will break down away games and have a complete recap.

WYFX-TV Fox Channel 17/62 is again broadcasting all home games on a tape-delay basis.

The contests and dates are South Dakota State (Sept. 8), Stony Brook (Sept. 15), Lock Haven (Sept. 22), Missouri State (Sept. 29), Southern Utah (Oct. 13), Illinois State (Oct. 20) and Western Illinois (Nov. 10). All will air at 10:30 p.m.

Krispinksy and Todd Kollar, a former YSU All-America offensive lineman, will call the action for Channel 17/62.

For the second consecutive season, video of home games will be available on the Internet through Teamline. Penguin fans can log on to www.teamline.cc the day of the game to watch. Individual games are available for $15 while a seven-game regular-season package is $90.

WFMJ-TV Channel 21 and cable channel WBCB-TV (The CW) is carrying “Penguin Gameday” on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. The year’s show premieres Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

“Penguin Gameday” will be shown on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. on WBCB and on Saturdays at noon on Channel 21. For the second straight year, SportsTime Ohio also will show “Penguin Gameday” and the FOX replays.
