His 45.24 career punting average is the best in NCAA history, with 94 punts of 50 yards or longer ... A linebacker at Highland Park High School in Dallas, and initially walked on to Baylor as a LB before moving to punter. ... Led NCAA Division I-A with a 46.48 average as a senior, causing opponents to start drives at no better than their own 20-yard line on 52 percent of all possessions. ... Cameron Stephenson, G, Rutgers, 6-3, 306, No. 156 overall. Had a good senior season after finally settling into a position. A high school offensive tackle, he shifted to defensive tackle at Harbor College in Los Angeles. He returned to offensive tackle at Rutgers in 2004, returned to the defensive line gain in 2005, then shifted to right guard as a senior. Allowed only one of the eight sacks given up by Rutgers last season. .. Rutgers averaged 180 yards per game rushing last season. ... Positives: Versatility, strong drive blocker, can handle the pass rush. Negatives: Not technically sound, not a surprise given his lack of experience at guard. Needs to spend time with coaches on footwork. ... Missed 2003 junior college season with a knee injury.
William Gay, CB, Louisville, 5-11, 184, No. 170 overall. Started for three seasons and part of a fourth at Louisville. A leader on defense, he also played special teams. Significantly improved his play as a senior, making 60 tackles and six interceptions and adding two sacks and two forced fumbles. Played on winning teams throughout his career. Positives: Extensive experience and production, especially as a senior. Motivates teammates. Doesn't back down from taking on an opponent's top receiver. Negatives: Marginal speed, can be beaten downfield. Most scouting services had him going lower in the draft.
Dallas Baker, WR, Florida, 6-3, 207, No. 227 overall. The nephew of Wes Chandler, the former Saints and Chargers receiver. ... Had 21 touchdown catches in 59 career games for Florida. ... As a junior, made 52 catches for 697 yards and five touchdowns. ... Also played special teams. ... Positives: Good competitor, team leader, plays with enthusiasm and drive. Negatives: At age 25, older than most incoming NFL rookies. ... Timed at 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash, not a strong time for an NFL wide receiver. Not always aggressive when asked to catch the ball downfield with defenders around.
