Judge sentences man who tried to sell son

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) -- A man who was accused of trying to sell his 2-year-old son has been convicted of child endangering.
Jason McCarthy, 30, was arrested last month after a woman told police that McCarthy asked her if she wanted to buy his son. The child was placed in a foster home, and McCarthy was held in jail until his appearance in Middletown Municipal Court on Thursday.
He pleaded no contest to the charge of child endangering.
"I'm pretty tore up, and I want to get my son back," McCarthy told Judge Mark Wall. "I got a month in jail, and I lost my son, and that's enough."
Wall sentenced McCarthy to 90 days in jail and a 250 fine. McCarthy must also serve 28 days in jail for violating his probation but was given credit for the 31 days he had served since his arrest.
