Grand jury backs tax after jail tour

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has rated the county jail as clean and well-maintained, and called for reopening of unused housing units in the jail.

The grand jury also endorsed the half percent sales tax renewal on the May 8 ballot, which county officials have said is critical to accomplish full jail reopening.
