Browns and Steelers get their men in NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns got 2 first-round picks, for a price, and the Pittsburgh Steelers hope they got Joey Porter's replacement, in the first round of Saturday's NFL Draft.

The Browns went with heralded offensive tackle Joe Thomas of Wisconsin with the third overall pick in the draft, and the Steelers got the linebacker they coveted, Florida State's Lawrence Timmons, at No. 15.

But the buzz of the first round centered around Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn, who was seriously considered by the Browns at No. 3. Quinn was expected to go to Miami at No. 9, but when the Dolphins shocked everyone by choosing Ohio State receiver Ted Ginn Jr., Quinn saw his wait extend far longer than he or anyone else expected.

Finally, the Browns swung a deal for the Cowboys' No. 22 pick, sending Dallas their second-round pick Saturday and next year's first-round choice. Finally, at 4 p.m., about four hours after the draft started, Quinn had his team and the Browns had their quarterback.
