40th anniversary
LOWELLVILLE -- The Rev. George Balasko will celebrate 40 years in the priesthood during a polka Mass at 4:30 p.m. May 20 at Holy Rosary Church, 131 E. Wood St., where the first polka Mass took place Memorial Day in 1972. The Wayne Tomsic Combo will play at the Mass with a Slavic folk liturgy. A concert will follow on the church veranda. Those attending should take lawn chairs and refreshments.
Guest preacher
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Mark T. Barclay, a television preacher and conference speaker, will conduct services at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Miracle Valley Church, 2119 Valley View Road. A nursery and children's church will be provided for both services.
All-night prayer
FARRELL, Pa. -- Wind in the Word Worship Center, 712 Martin Luther King Blvd., formerly Broadway Avenue, will host an all-night prayer meeting from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. May 5. There will be various speakers and prayer sessions. The center's flag team, Divine Worship, will participate.
Rosary cenacle
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., and Queen of the Holy Rosary Prayer Group will have a rosary cenacle at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Refreshments will follow in the social hall.
Honoring Mary
YOUNGSTOWN -- Bishop George V. Murry will preside at the annual Night to Honor Mary at 7 Friday at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave. The devotional service will include recitation of the rosary, Scripture readings, homily, Litany of the Blessed Mother and Marian hymns.
Missions program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Morning Star Baptist Church, 747 Willow St., will have a missions program at 4 p.m. Sunday. Speaker will be the Rev. David Moncrief and the congregation of Triedstone Baptist Church. The choir, directed by Wilbur Ervin, will sing.
Praying for military
COLUMBIANA -- Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 415 S. Main St., will have an hour of meditation and prayer from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday for members of the U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. There will be patriotic and inspirational organ music. The nondenominational worship will remember those who have perished during military service and those on active duty. Musical program
WARREN -- The Pastor's Aide for Hoyt Street Florishing Ministries, 789 Hoyt St., will present a musical program at 4 p.m. Sunday. Musical guests will be Voices of Evangelism of Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ, Jimmy Rogers of Akron, the Rev. Eddie Jackson of Bibleland Church of God in Christ and congregation.
Bible college graduation
YOUNGSTOWN -- American Baptist College Youngstown Extension will present certificates in Christian training and diplomas in theology during a commencement service at 6 p.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave. The Rev. Richard Roberts, pastor of Valley Baptist Church in Farrell, Pa., will deliver the message.
The Hoppers in concert
HUBBARD -- Chestnut Ridge Church of God, 7215 Chestnut Ridge Road, will host a concert with The Hoppers, a gospel group, at 6 p.m. May 20. Doors open at 5. There is limited seating of 340. AUSTINTOWN -- David Wells, fluglehorn recording artist, will present a free concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2432 S. Raccoon Road.

NEW WATERFORD -- The Rev. Kathryn Adams will be guest speaker at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services Sunday at East Fairfield United Methodist Church, state Route 558. She is the director of Protestant Campus Ministry at Youngstown State University.
