Man arrested for throwing rocks on Pittsburgh highway

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man was charged with throwing rocks out of his car at other cars traveling on a busy suburban highway.

Ronald Anthony Garvis Jr., 19, of Trafford, was charged Thursday with propulsion of missiles and various traffic offenses. Authorities said in an affidavit that Garvis admitted traveling outbound on the Parkway West April 10 when he threw a rock at a car traveling in the opposite direction.

Garvis had been taken into custody the day of the incident after he crashed his car on the parkway. He was involuntarily committed to a mental institution and told authorities he suffers from bipolar disorder and uses drugs.
