Patrol: Bus crash injures 4 pupils

DAMASCUS -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported four schoolchildren suffered minor injuries when a pickup truck hit the rear of their school bus at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.
State Trooper Bill Robinson said a West Branch school bus carrying 29 pupils in grades kindergarten through fifth grade from Damascus Elementary was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by David M. Woloschak, 18, of North Jackson.
Robinson said the four children were taken to Alliance Community Hospital. He added, however, their injuries appeared to be minor.
Robinson said the bus driver, Elena I. Spahr of Sebring, was northbound on state Route 534, about a quarter mile south of state Route 14. It was between Route 14 and state Route 165 in Goshen Township where the crash occurred. She had stopped to let a child off the bus when Woloschak, also northbound on 534, came over the crest of a hill on the road, could not stop, and hit the bus, Robinson said.
The damage to the bus was negligible, but the front end of the pickup received significant damage. Neither driver was reported injured.
The uninjured children were taken to nearby Damascus Fire Station to be picked up by their parents.
