Two Masses this weekend for officer killed in 2003


YOUNGSTOWN — There will be two Masses this weekend for Youngstown Patrolman Michael T. Hartzell who was shot and killed while on duty April 29, 2003. The first is 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., and the second at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Carmelite Monastery, 1810 Volney Road. Hartzell, 26, was ambushed in his cruiser downtown. The man who shot him received the death penalty and then committed suicide in prison.
