Goodwill to honor 21 pupils as winners of poster contest

Five trucking companies assisted with the donations.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Twenty-one area schoolchildren will be honored Thursday morning as winners of the School Bundle Day competition, sponsored by Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.
The poster contest was held in conjunction with the 46th annual School Bundle Day donation drive. Pupils from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties participated in the contest, which required contestants to draw their ideas of how Goodwill helps people with disabilities.
More than 70 contest winners, parents, school officials and guests are scheduled to attend the breakfast in the Goodwill cafeteria. All posters will be displayed and winners will be presented with educational gifts and certificates from Goodwill.
Forty-one schools participated, resulting in 3,078 bags collected and more than 23,000 pounds of clothing and small household items.
Other donors
Contributing to the success of the drive were five area trucking companies who donated services of a truck and driver for delivery and pickup of bundled bags at the schools. They were Aim Nationlease, Bumble Bee Moving, The Lyden Company, Rheil Supply, and Richards Moving & amp; Storage.
The Children's Museum of the Valley provided admission passes to all pupils who filled a bundle bag during the donation drive. In addition to the museum passes, pupils also received coupons for one free book at any of the seven Goodwill stores.
All donations pupils collected during the donation drive are sold in the seven Goodwill stores. The sale of those donations help support Goodwill's mission of providing job training and employment services to those with disabilities or other barriers to employment, say Goodwill officials.
