Event focus is well-being of women



Proceeds will go toward scholarships and community outreach programs.
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Women in Transition: The Economic Keys to Success" will be the theme of a day of workshops, vendors, lunch and fashions to be sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Mu Omega and Delta Delta chapters.
The event, which will focus on the total well-being of women, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5 at Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University.
Admission for the entire day is 35 for the general public and 20 for YSU students. Proceeds will support the sorority's scholarship fund and community outreach programs.
The following sessions are scheduled:
"Hey, Boss Lady," a workshop on women entrepreneurs of the 21st century, featuring Lisa Evans, entrepreneur, LNE and Associates Building Hope.
"Lets's Get Fiscal," a program on financial awareness led by Tami M. Bolder, CPA/ABV, of SS & amp;G Financial Services.
"Buy Me, Buy Me," which will address spending habits, presented by Dr. Homer Warren, YSU marketing professor.
"It's Electric, Boogie Woogie," a lesson on the latest dance craze conducted by Mary Bowman.
"10," a class on bodies of perfection led by Jason Boyd, personal trainer.
"Running for Their Lives," a book signing by the author, Karen Arnett Spaulding of Virginia Beach, Va., on her book dealing with the price of freedom.
Alnita Bryant-Russell and Theresa Yarboro are co-chairwomen of the daylong activities.
