Dog finds human skull, investigation under way

WARREN — A human skull found by a dog in Warren Township has been turned over to the Trumbull Coroner’s Office in an attempted to identify it.

Township Police Chief Thomas Rush said today that about 25 firefighters and police searched a 100-acre wooded area off Hewitt Gifford Road until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday but couldn’t find any other remains.

Police were called about 4 p.m. to a home at 3480 Hewitt Gifford. A woman there found the skull near the cage for her dogs.
