Bus accident sends four kids to hospital

DAMASCUS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports minor injuries to four schoolchilren injured when a pickup truck rammed into the rear of their school bus today.

State Trooper Bill Robinson said a West Branch school bus carrying 29 pupils in grades kindergarten through fifth grade from Damascus Elementary School was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by David M. Woloschak, 18, of North Jackson.

Robinson said the four children were taken to Alliance Community Hospital. He added, however, their injuries appeared to be minor.

Robinson said the bus driver, Elena I. Spahr of Sebring, was northbound on state Route 534, about a quarter mile south of state Route 14 between Route 14 and state Route 165, and had stopped to let a child off the bus between 3 and 4 p.m. Woloschak, also northbound on 534, came over a crest in the hill on the road, could not stop, and rammed into the bus.

Robinson did not know if either Spahr or Woloschak were injured.
