Austintown Fitch outlasts GlenOak for 1st league win



Lowellville defeated McDonald, avenging Monday's loss to the Blue Devils.
AUSTINTOWN -- Winning pitcher Heidi Soriano's two hits included a double Tuesday as the Austintown High softball team defeated Canton GlenOak, 4-3, in 10 innings.
Kara Roche and Soriano combined to strike out nine Golden Eagles.
For the Falcons (5-6, 1-3 Federal League), Soriano drove in a run while Kate Ferree's two hits included a double and drove in a run. Stephanie Berdis had two singles.
Jackson 11, Boardman 0
BOARDMAN -- Cortney Seifert pitched a two-hitter and Kayla Ashbrook had three hits including a home run in the Federal League game.
Ashbrook also scored three times for Jackson (12-1, 4-1).
Boardman is 7-8, 2-3.
Lowellville 8, McDonald 4
LOWELLVILLE -- Cori Pavlicko had three hits and drove in six runs for the Rockets (9-6, 5-4 Inter Tri County League Tier Two), who avenged a Monday loss to McDonald.
Jacque Schrader had two hits while winning pitcher Carla Blinsky improved to 7-4.
For the Blue Devils (10-2, 7-2), Kaitlyn Rutushin doubled twice and Sara Ingalls homered.
Western Reserve 13, Sebring 3
SEBRING -- Elizabeth Srock pitched a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks to pace Western Reserve (11-9, 8-2 ITCL Tier Two), which sprayed 15 hits.
Chelsea Korda had two singles and one RBI while Ellie Sanders had one hit and one RBI and Macy Marra three singles to lead the Blue Devils' offense, while Kailyn Mowery and Carlee Ripley added two singles each.
Chantel Fox had two singles for Sebring (7-10, 4-6 ITCL Tier Two) while Megan Allcorn added an RBI.
Jackson-Milton 13, Leetonia 1
LEETONIA -- Krista Kiraly (11-3) pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to pick up the win for the Bluejays (12-1, 9-1 ITCL Tier Two).
Jessica Balent hit a double, two singles, stole two bases and scored three times for the Bluejays.
Carrie Fiol had a double, single and drove in two runs. Cat Keck hit a double, two singles and drove in two runs and Kortney Gherardi hit three singles and drove in two runs.
Mineral Ridge 16, South Range 13
MINERAL RIDGE -- Heather Reinhart had three hits for Mineral Ridge (7-7, 4-4 ITCL Tier One), while Melanie Sparks had two doubles and Jenna Smith and Mara Bellard each added two hits.
For South Range, Laura Biroschak and Chelsea Leson each had three hits.
Springfield 7, Lisbon 6
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Tigers (7-3, 7-3 ITCL Tier One) scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the 11th inning.
Leah Noel led off the 11th for the Tigers with a single. Ashley Davis hit a triple as Noel scored to tie it 7-7. After a fly out and strikeout, Breanne Mincher walked and stole second. With a two-strike count on batter Melissa Carabello, a passed ball by the Lisbon catcher scored Davis with the winning run.
Noel paced the Tigers with a double, two singles and scored twice. Davis added two other hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
Katie Ketchum hit a double, single and scored twice for the Blue Devils.
Salem 15, Campbell 1
CAMPBELL -- Brittany Gregory had eight strikeouts in pitching a two-hitter for Salem (4-6, 2-3 Metro Athletic Conference).
Also for the Quakers, Leah Minamyer had a three-run homer in the second inning and Mikenzie Clark tripled.
Junior Jamie Dolan and senior Jazmin Jones had the only hits -- both singles -- for Campbell (1-9, 0-6).
Alliance 7, West Branch 3
ALLIANCE -- The Aviators (8-7), behind 2-0, scored six runs in the fifth inning.
Brittany Snyder and Kelsey Price each had two hits for Alliance. Ceara Harris hit a triple and single and drove in three runs for the Warriors (2-13).
Southeast 8, Coventry 4
RAVENNA -- Southeast (12-2) took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, then cruised to the victory.
Shannon Hamilton hit two doubles and two singles for the Pirates, while Danielle Kaley (4-1) worked six innings to pick up the win.
