Opera singer will debut at the Met



NEW YORK -- Opera singer Lawrence Brownlee, a Youngstown native, will make his debut at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera on Thursday.
The East High graduate will perform the role of Count Almaviva in "The Barber of Seville." The famed Rossini opera will also be staged at The Met on April 30, May 5 and May 11. Curtain time for all four performances is 8 p.m.
Brownlee, 34, began his professional opera career about five years ago, and quickly reached the highest levels. He performs worldwide.
Brownlee holds a master's degree from Indiana University, and also attended Youngstown State University and Anderson University in Indiana.
