YSU student's car stolen at gunpoint

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University and city police arrested a man in the carjacking of a student’s vehicle Sunday night.

According to police reports, the female student was walking to her car at University Courtyard Apartments at Walnut Street and Carlton Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when a male and female approached her and took her keys at gunpoint.

The suspects then led police on a high-speed chase until officers caught up with them at Kimmel Avenue and Albert Street.

Police arrested the male suspect, but they were still looking for the female suspect at 11 p.m. Earlier in the evening, another student’s purse was snatched outside Dorian Books on Elm Street, YSU police said.
