Red-White spring game
LeBron on hand: Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James and his entourage were on hand for the game. The group sat by themselves on the East Stands. James was there to see his former high school teammate, Sian Cotton, who transferred to the Penguins this season from Ohio State. James played one year of football at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary and was a teammate of Cotton.Top receivers: Junior Ferlando Williams was the top pass catcher in the spring game as he hauled in six catches for 78 yards, while senior Dustin Helle added five catches for 79 yards. Both played for the Red team. Sophomore Aaron Pitts led the White team with four receptions for 50 yards, while junior tight end Derrick Bush had three catches for 50 yards. Not much rushing: There wasn't a whole lot of running the football Friday, but redshirt freshman Jordan Edwards led the Red team with eight carries for 38 yards, while sophomore Jabari Scott added 24 yards on seven tries. The White team only ran the ball nine times in the game with senior Tim Dewberry leading the way with 10 yards on two carries.Defensive stars: Senior linebacker Rashod Cotton was the top tackler for the White team with nine stops, including two for losses, while senior safety Vince Gliatta and sophomore cornerback Lenny Wicks each had four tackles for the Red. Wicks had an interception and senior defensive lineman Blake Halverson had the game's only sack.Almost penalty free: There was only one penalty in the game and that was a 5-yard offside call against the White team. There was also only one fumble on the night and that was by Jordan Edwards, but he recovered it. The Red team also blocked the extra point attempt by redshirt freshman Stephen Blose when senior Sian Cotton got a hand on the ball.
