Tigers place Mesa on 15-day disabled list

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers placed right-handed reliever Jose Mesa on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a pulled muscle in his right groin.
He is 0-1 with a 20.25 ERA, pitching 22/3 innings in four appearances.
Detroit recalled right-handed reliever Aquilino Lopez from its Triple-A affiliate in Toledo to fill Mesa's roster spot. Lopez has four saves and hasn't allowed a run in seven appearances (6 1-3 innings) and doesn't have a decision.
Royals
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City recalled left-hander Neal Musser from Triple-A Omaha and designated right-hander Jason Standridge for assignment.
The 26-year-old Musser appeared in five games for Omaha, allowing one unearned run on three hits and a walk in eight innings. He struck out eight.
Angels
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Los Angeles recalled infielder Kendry Morales from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Morales replaces second baseman Howie Kendrick on the roster. Kendrick went on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a fractured middle finger on his left hand.
The 23-year-old Morales hit .291 with a home run and eight RBIs in 13 games for Salt Lake. He batted .234 with five homers and 22 RBIs in 57 games for the Angels last year after making his major league debut on May 23.
