Salem boys win title as records fall at East Palestine Relays meet

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Seven records were set at the East Palestine Relays Friday at Springfield High Stadium.
Waterloo won the girls title with 70 points. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy was second with 66.5 in the field of 11 schools.
Lauren Shivers, Sarah Yerkey, Liz Shivers and Erin Murphy of Salem set the 4x800-meter relay record in 10 minutes, 8.2 seconds.
Kristen Basista, Elyse Hawout, Savanna Flesch and Bethany Bissell of Mineral Ridge set the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay record (1:09).
The Lordstown girls, led by Kayla Elks (15-9) set the long jump record (30-11/2).
Salem set records in both the girls' shot put (65-113/4) and Discus (214-9).
Salem's boys scored 85.5 points for the team championship. McDonald was second with 59.
Jason Keniston, Matt Moffett, Dustin Matak and Jon Lee of the Quakers set the 4x100 relay record (44.0).
The Quakers, led by Jeremiah Folger (51-101/2), set the shot put record (96-1).
