VOLANT, Pa. -- Guns, cash and golf clubs were taken from a Plain Grove-North Liberty Road home. Pennsylvania State Police said the items, valued at 7,500, were taken between 7 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. Police said someone kicked in a main door to an attached garage. In the garage, they removed two sets of golf clubs. Police said the thieves then went into the house and removed a .358 Magnum and a .44 Magnum from a night stand and cash from a small home safe in a closet. Police are asking anyone with information about the burglary to call (724) 598-2211.
Great American Meatout
BOARDMAN -- The Great American Meatout will be from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Seventh-day Adventist Church Social Hall, 7668 Glenwood Ave., next to the Boardman public library. Guest speaker will be Dr. Ron Ruscitti, vegetarian and doctor of chiropractic and nutrition. 2 rabies vaccinations
The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and ferrets in cooperation with Struthers, Animal Charity, the county dog warden, Angels for Animals and volunteer veterinarians in the community. Rabies vaccinations are required for dogs, cars and ferrets age 3 months and older, said Health Commissioner Matthew Stefanak. The clinics are: May 5, 1 to 4 p.m., Jackson Township Fire Department, 229 N. Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson; May 12, 1 to 4 p.m., New Middletown Village Fire Department, 10711 Main St., New Middletown; and May 19, 1 to 4 p.m., Beloit Village Fire Department, 17893 Fifth St., Beloit. No appointment is necessary. The cost is 2 per shot. Dogs must be under leash and cats should be caged or carried in a cloth pillowcase.
