Youth Theatre to present'The Jungle Book'
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre will present the musical "Walt Disney's the Jungle Book" at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Adapted from the animated film and based on the Rudyard Kipling novel, the play tells the story of Mowgli, a young boy raised in the jungle by wolves. With the help of his friends Baloo, the bear, and Bagheera, the panther, Mowgli learns the ways of the jungle. But Shere Khan, the tiger, vows to get rid of the boy any way he can.
The production includes the popular songs "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wan'Na Be Like You."
The play, which features a cast of 28 adults and children, is directed by Elizabeth Rubino. Jim Lybarger is technical director and Patricia Petaccio is costumer. Frank Leskovec serves as stage manager. A complimentary autograph party will be held after the show.

Carnation City Playersto stage 'Mockingbird'
ALLIANCE -- Carnation City Players will present "To Kill a Mockingbird" Friday, Saturday and April 27-29 at the Firehouse Theater.
The novel portrays three years in the life of Scout Finch, the young daughter of a town's principled lawyer, Atticus Finch, whose defense of a black man earns him scorn. The novel became a best-seller and won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Don McCallister is directing with Dawn Findling serving as stage manager. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m.; the matinee April 29 is at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are 10 for adults and 8 for students (17 and under). 'Love Among Russians'at Westminster College
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Theatre Westminster will present "Love Among the Russians" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, in Beeghly Theatre.
"This collection of two one-act comedies by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov are what he calls 'his little vaudevilles,'" said Eileen Hendrickson, director of the play and Westminster College visiting instructor of theater. "It's broad comedy that makes fun of romance, proposals and marriages." Jessica Hall of Hubbard and Patrick Thomas of Struthers are in the cast.
