Pittsburgh college had a lockdown this morning

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ A small private university declared a brief, partial lockdown Thursday morning after a man was shot near the urban campus.

The man was shot several times about 8:45 a.m. near Point Park University in Pittsburgh, police said. Further details of the shooting were not immediately available.

In an e-mail sent to faculty and staff, school officials said they had been told the suspect had fled the area. The lockdown lasted less than one hour, during which time access to buildings was limited and controlled by security.

A message left for a school spokeswoman was not immediately returned.
