Man, 81, dies in crash on West Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Michael German, 81, of Burbank Avenue died Wednesday morning after losing control of his car on Salts Springs Road and hitting the rear end of a tractor-trailer rig, said Detective Sgt. Rob Deichman, an accident investigator.

Deichman said it’s unknown whether a medical reason caused German to drive his 1989 Pontiac left of center near Meridian Road.

A cause is pending from the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office.
