Girard man injured in industrial accident

GIRARD — A city man was in critical condition late this evening after he was struck by a 25,000-pound steel beam. According to police reports, Greg Doran, 22, of Dravis Street, was working at Girard Machine, 700 Dotok St., when the beam fell from an overhead crane at 10:44 a.m. and struck him.

Doran was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he is being treated for internal injuries, broken bones and severe cuts. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
