Do you have cash coming? Check the list in The Vindicator

YOUNGSTOWN -- Current and former Mahoning County residents can check Tuesday's Vindicator to see if they are entitled to a portion of more than $3.7 million in unclaimed funds turned over to the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Unclaimed Funds in the past year.
Doug White, department director, said the Mahoning County advertisement will include 5,316 unclaimed fund accounts of $50 or more turned over to the Division of Unclaimed Funds in the past year for individuals whose last known address was in Mahoning County.
White said those who find their name listed can begin the claim process on the division's Web site at www.unclaimedfundstreasurehunt.ohio.gov,or by submitting the coupon in the newspaper insert.
White said unclaimed funds are funds or the right to funds that have been dormant or forgotten. He said some common examples are dormant checking or savings accounts, forgotten rent and utility deposits, uncashed checks, undelivered stock certificates, uncashed insurance policies and forgotten layaway deposits.
More than 43,000 Ohioans received a record $64.3 million in unclaimed funds last year, White said.
