Salvation Army offers applications for 2006 Christmas assistance

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Salvation Army is providing applications for 2006 Christmas assistance in collaboration with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program.
Applications will be available at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., during the following dates and times: from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10-12; noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 13 and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14.
Applicants must present a valid photo I.D., Social Security cards for all household members and proof of guardianship of all children in the household (i.e.: medical card, insurance card, court papers, etc.) Applicants will be asked to sign a form verifying that total household income does not exceed 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
Christmas assistance is available to families, couples, singles and seniors. Children age 12 or under at the time of application will receive toys through the Angel Tree program. All applicant households will receive food vouchers to assist with the purchase of holiday food.
Distribution dates for the assistance program will be: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 18 and 19 and noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 20. A specific distribution date will be assigned to each family during the application process. Food vouchers will be mailed to the homes of those not receiving toys.
