Hiznay's goals carry Poland



Walsh Jesuit beat Mooney.
BOARDMAN -- Katie Hiznay scored twice Saturday as the Poland High girls soccer team shut out Boardman, 2-0.
The game was halted with 31 seconds remaining because of lightning.
Shelby Ludt and Maureen Malone had assists for Poland (4-1). Goalkeeper Sam Stanich made four saves.
Canfield 5, Ursuline 0
CANFIELD -- Audrey Smith, Jill Halfhill, Noelle Fox, Kaley Donovan and Audra Frimpong each scored for the Cardinals (3-0-1).
Canfield led at the break 3-0.

STRUTHERS -- In a battle of state-ranked teams, the Cardinals (No. 3 in Division II) were shut out by Walsh (No. 2 in Div. I).
The Cardinals (3-2-0) took six shots while the Warriors (6-0-0) took 12. After a scoreless first half, Rose Augustine scored two goals to lift Walsh.
Mooney goalkeeper Veronica Skowron made 12 saves. Mooney coach Joe DeMay says the two-goal margin was the closest match Walsh has had with an in-state team.
Garrettsville Garfield 5, Springfield 3,
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Sophomores Amber Uscianowski and Breanne Minscher and senior Katie Walker scored goals for Springfield (3-2) while Courtney Paulin made nine saves.
Warren JFK 6, Jefferson Area 0
WARREN -- Roxy Hoerig and Jerrica Cooper had two goals apiece while Molly Rogers and Kelly Kovac had single scores for JFK (3-1-1).
Cooper, Hoerig, Jacci Roberts and Taylor Gee had an assist apiece. JFK outshot Jefferson, 30-4.
Conneaut 1, Badger 1
KINSMAN -- Christie Church scored in the first eight minutes and the Spartans (3-3) held on. Kelsey Graner made six saves for Conneaut while Katy Dvorak had nine for Badger (3-2).
Cornerstone Christian 11, Youngstown Christian 3
AUSTINTOWN -- Kara Cooper scored two goals for the Eagles (2-3). Amanda Vestal added the other goals. Cooper had an assist. Amanda Vestal and Kaitlyn Vestal, goalkeepers, combined for 11 saves. Lisa Tonelli led the Patriots with five goals.
Boys
AUSTINTOWN -- Senior forward Brad Hrinko scored two goals as the Fitch High boys team tied Erie Central, 3-3. Hrinko has 12 goals for the season.
Junior midfielder Nick Bowlen had the other goal for Fitch (4-0-1).
Fitch had a 3-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining before Erie Central (0-0-1) battled back. Joe Sebaugh made 12 saves in goal for Fitch, which had an 18-15 edge in shots.
Mooney 6, West Branch 1
STRUTHERS -- Senior Dom DiPasquale scored three goals for the Cardinals (5-1) in a game stopped with 14:20 remaining because of threatening weather.
Junior Tommie McBride scored a pair of goals while sophmore Hector Hernandez scored one. Senior Kyle Buxman made four assists while Aleko Frangopoulos and James Simon each had one.
JVs: Mooney, 2-0.
