Sewer system request accepted

Friday, September 8, 2006

WARREN -- Another group of property owners has petitioned Trumbull County commissioners for a sewer system on Champion Avenue East in Champion.
At their meeting Thursday, commissioners voted to receive the petitions from about 25 property owners. A petition containing signatures of 84 percent of the property owners was turned in to county Sanitary Engineer Gary Newbrough.
Commissioners received another petition from Champion Avenue East property owners in May. It asked that a sewer line be built from Young's Run east to Clovercrest Drive.
Jay Walton, chief project engineer for the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer's Department, said the newest petition project would extend the line farther east from Clovercrest about 1,575 feet. He said the department has about 20 such projects on the books throughout the county.
The sanitary engineer's department will draw up plans for the project, Walton said.
In other business, commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding between the county and Belmont Pines Hospital in Liberty and between the county and the county board of elections office in Warren for use of space in the event of a disaster.
The county would be permitted to set up temporary operation of essential departments at the two locations during a disaster.
