BOARDMAN Police chief

The three-member screening committee appointed by township trustees has selected 12 applicants for the police chief position they believe are best suited for the position:
Patrick J. Berarducci, Medina; bachelor's degree, applied science, Youngstown State University, 1977; agent with federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives since 1978, assigned to Cleveland office since 2003.
John Bonnevier, Ormond Beach, Fla.; master's degree, public administration, 1998, and bachelor's degree, criminal justice, 1978, both University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla.; captain/district commander, Volusia County sheriff's office, Deland, Fla., since 2003.
Robert O. Laughlin, Chalfont, Pa.; master's degree, Pepperdine University, Malibu, Calif., 1982; bachelor's degree, chemistry from the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., 1978; on-scene commander with FBI Iraq Theater of Operations, 2006 to present; FBI agent and agent-in-charge at various offices from 1985-2006.
James M. Lewandowski, Boardman; bachelor's degree, applied science, law enforcement administration, YSU, 1980; Mahoning County Sheriff's Department since 1985, captain since 2002.
Mark A. Machan, Milford, Ohio; expected to graduate this year from University of Cincinnati with master's degree in criminal justice; bachelor's degree, management, Malone College, Canton; chief since 2005 of Milford Police Department.
Gerald E. Mines, Oakland Gardens, N.Y.; bachelor's degree, criminal justice and psychology, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 1973; police commissioner in Mount Vernon, N.Y, since 2006; New York Police Department, 1963-2005.
David C. Morris, Pasadena, Md; unclear if degree obtained; Prince George's County Police Department, Maryland, with department since 1985, major since 2005.
Jerre Patterson, Boardman; bachelor's degree, applied science, law enforcement administration, YSU, 1974; with township police since 1974, currently acting chief.
Kevin Pierce, Phoenixville, Pa.; bachelor's degree, psychology, Villanova, University, Pa., 1983; lieutenant/station commander with Pennsylvania State Police, from 1985 to January, Coatesville, Pa.
Steven D. Robbins, Chesterfield, Mich.; bachelor's degree, criminal justice, Florida International University, North Miami, Fla., 1989; chief of Chesterfield Township, Mich., 2002-05.
Charles M. White, Monroeville, Ohio; master's degree, University of Cincinnati, 2004; bachelor's degree, Cleveland State, 2002; international police officer with United Nations in Liberia since 2005; formerly chief of Monroeville police, 1997-2005.
James E. Zindroski, North Royalton, Ohio; bachelor's degree, education from University of Akron, 1977; retired in July as commander of safety and security of Cleveland Municipal School District since 2003; served two years as chief of Orrville Police Department, 1997-99.
