YOUNGSTOWN -- A woman with previous forgery and theft convictions was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, illegal use of food stamps and possession of marijuana.
Danetta Cleckley, 21, of Willis Avenue, was arraigned Thursday in municipal court on the charges and released on her own recognizance. She will be back in court Sept. 12 for a preliminary hearing.
Cleckley was a passenger in a car that was stopped on the South Side on Wednesday evening for having loud exhaust. Police said they found a small bag of marijuana near Cleckley, and a handgun in her purse. Also in the purse was an Ohio Directional card in the name of another woman, police said. The card is used as food stamps.
The driver, Isiah Dent, 32, of Kenmore Avenue, was charged with driving under suspension and loud exhaust. He will be back in court Sept. 29.
Court records show Cleckley was convicted of forgery and sentenced to probation in May 2005; she was convicted of theft in March 2006, received probation again and was ordered to stay out of the Southern Park Mall; she was convicted of theft in October 2003 and received probation and was ordered to stay out of Wal-Mart and Gabriel's. A warrant was issued Aug. 11 for a probation violation.
