Elks scholarships available for seniors

CHICAGO -- Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States can apply for an Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship.
The contest began Friday and ends Jan. 12, 2007.
Participants are competing for top prizes of two $60,000, two $40,000 and two $20,000 scholarships, and 494 runners-up will get $4,000 scholarships.
All awards are paid over four years.
Applications are available at local Elks lodges, high schools, online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., Chicago 60614-2256.
